Many conditions can cause the symptoms of sinusitis such as a bacterial infection, fungal infection, allergy condition, and other non infectious inflammatory conditions. The ENT doctor may order a cat scan and other blood tests to check your immune system and allergy status. The cat scan may be able to rule out polyps or cysts. Sometime cultures are needed.
