Prevention. One way is to keep a careful diary and start taking a medication like aleve, (naproxen) twice a day, a day or two before symptoms start. Pain and inflammation are easier to prevent than to treat. If your perids are not regular, or if this doesn't work, there are forms of birth control (iud's, shots, pills) that can help...Even eliminate perods for a while.
Options. NSAID’s, SSRI’s, hormone meds, OTC meds containing diuretics, warm bath, heating pad, exercise & acupuncture are excellent for PMS / period. Avoid caffeine, chocolate, alcohol & salt. Get GYN eval to R/O underlying pathology. Consider omega- 3 fatty acids, magnesium (supplementation or through diet) or Black Cohosh with dr ok. Sipping Chamomile can dissipate pain. Ginger helps w nausea.
