You could not be infected from the virus in his genital area by his oral contact with you.
But if he also ever has or had genital hsv2 or oral hsv1 cold sores you could catch either of these viruses in your genitals by oral -genital contact with him. Oral hsv 1 causes 10% of genital herpes and genital hsv2 causes 10% of oral herpes. Both can be spread when no visible lesions are present.
