The time varies before active labor starts, but the plug loss is the beginning of the process prior to initiating labor. Mother nature is "in control" of when labor starts unless the OB does induction of labor with pitocin (oxytocin).

Pregnancy has to 2 eight mo intervals, the first eight mo and the last mo that seems like 8 mo! It will happen soon so let mother nature do her job.
