No, but... Scalp numbness should not usually accompany a facelift. However, it is quite possible/common after a brow lift, which is a procedure commonly done at the same time as a facelift. This is especially true if you had an incision that went along your hairline (a tricophytic incision). I would recommend discussion w your surgeon if it concerns you.
Numbness & Facelift. A face lift is rarely performed alone & may incorporate liposuction of the neck/chin, fat grafting, fillers, eyelid procedures, facial implants, forehead/brow lifts, chemical peels, dermabrasion, laser resurfacing, etc. Depending on the procedures performed, it is possible to injure nerves that supply the skin and provide sensation. Many of these will recover but it may be permanent after 3years.
No. It is uncommon but permanent numbness is a risk of surgery.
Not normal. Though possible, numbness is a potential complication with any surgery of the skin. It is unlikely to get scalp numbness with only a standard facelift, but other concurrent procedures such as a brow lift can cause this symptom. It also should have resolved by 1-2 years, and there is little that can be done at this point. Good luck!
