In brief: Laser works better

Depending on skin type, laser works better for hair removal than ipl.
For paler skin types, alexandrite laser works well. For darker skin types, ndyag laser is a better choice.

In brief: Laser

Each doctor will probably say the laser they have works best.
Obviously all of these lasers do work. If you have light skin and dark hair, i think alexandrite lasers such as gentlelase, with a wavelength of 755 nm work very well. Ipls tend to be versatile machines that generate a high intensity beam of light, but are not lasers. I prefer laser machines that do a specific job over ipl machines.
