Cushioned heel. A shoe with some cushion will provide some "shock absorption" for your knee.
Best. Supportive shoes you can buy. Cross trainer tennis shoes are very good.
Comfortable. Since pain is often a big part of handling osteoarthirits, i would start with comfortable shoes, with good insoles. If you're having trouble finding something right, see an orthotics specialist, to make foot/knee wear tailored to you.
