What is there left to do when you have tried every single antibiotic for MRSA infection and it keeps coming back for the last 6 years?

In brief: Hygiene
Stop using antibiotics every time you get a cold.
Stop smoking and eating fast food or processed food, have your nose cultures and treated if indicated. If you work in a nursing home get out. Start exercising heavily - it will help ur immune system and sweat out some of the bugs.

In brief: Source Control
Recommend 1. An id consult to help determine if you are exposed to an MRSA source that has yet to be controlled.
2. You may need to adjust certain habits to minimize your risk if infections. 3. You may need a mutli-faceted approach to decrease the burden of MRSA colonization 4. Testing may be needed to see if you may have an immunodeficiency that predisposes you to infections.

Internal Medicine
In brief: MRSA
Mrsa is just your skin bacteria staph aureus turning resistant to certain antibiotics.
Treatment would depend on where the infection is. If it's an abscess, may need incision and drainage. If it's just found in your nostril, you may want some Mupirocin ointment. Get the culture and sensitivity, and use the antibiotics that the organism is sensitive to. Mrsa is a common problem!
