In brief: Most comfortable

There is no "best" position for sleeping.
But if you have snoring or sleep apnea, it will probably be worse when you are sleeping on your back. People with neck pain may have trouble when they sleep on their stomachs. The best position for people with lower back pain is to sleep on their backs with a pilliw under their knees.

In brief: Any

There is no best sleeping position per se.
But sleeping in the same position all the time can contribute to back pain. You may benefit from strategically using pillows to create a more neutral spine when you sleep. Here is a simple slideshow for how to do that: http://www.Mayoclinic.Com/health/sleeping-positions/lb00003_d.
