I was on Depo-Provera provera (medroxyprogesterone) for 6 mo, then switched to birth control. Was on that for 6 mo. It's been 5 mo since stopping, and no period at all. Why?

Your body needs time. Was 2nd form of birth control progesterone-only? Your brain has been fed hormones for months. There is something called the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonad axis. Are there any other 3 months injections or form of birth control that stops periods except Depo-Provera provera (medroxyprogesterone)?

Yes. Any birth control pill taken continuously will stop your periods, and there are a few that are specifically packaged that way. Similarly, the NuvaRing can be left in for 4 weeks and then swapped out. The Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud will usually stop periods, and Implanon is an implant placed under your skin that will last 3 years. Read more...
