In brief: Patellofemoral pain

Anterior knee pain syndrome may be the result of various internal or external problems.
Common causes are overuse, weak and inflexible quadriceps and hamstring muscles, a sudden change in intensity of your exercise regime, being overweight and flat feet. This can also be called patellofemoral pain syndrome or runners knee.
