In brief: Medications, circles

Dark circles around eyes can be caused by certain medications, including prostasglandin analogs used in glaucoma treatment.
Coating the lower lids with a thin film of petroleum gel or with cold cream will protect the thinner delicate skin around the eye.

In brief: Vit K cream, lasers

Dark circles are caused by several different problems: thinning of the skin which can allow underlying blood vessels to appear more prominent, overlying pigment caused by sun damage or rubbing or irritation.
Can be hereditary. Vitamin k cream can help. Also using vasoconstrictive agents in certain eye creams (and preparation h) can help reduce them. There are certain laser treatments that can help.

In brief: Creams do not help

Most dark circles are caused by fat deposits in the eyelid or loss of tissue in the tear trough with aging.
Filler injections in the tear trough can help. Some cases require surgery to remove and/or reposition the lid fat.
