In brief: Breastfeeding safety

Very generally speaking, my rule is not to take anything you would not give your newborn.
Some very safe options are sinus washes, ex the "netty pot", Vicks vapor rub, and nasal saline ( salt water) nasal spray. Over the counter cough syrups are also generally safe.To know for sure, speak to your physician or pharmacist and they can tell you which medications are secreted through breast milk.

In brief: Robitussin (guaifenesin)

Robitussin or Mucinex (guaifenesin) should be ok in nursing mother. You should avoid sudafed and similar decongestants, as they tend to decrease milk production.
