How do I know if I have contact dermatitis & how is it be treated?

Contact dermatitis. Itchy scally lesion usually provoked by contact with culprit causing factor, if every time you have conatct with metals like gold , chemicals, gloves, rubber, cosmotics , cloth etc...Then that is the type. Best rx is to avoid causative material and moderate or potent steroid cream , prescribed by physician .
See a Dermatologist. There are 2 types of contact dermatitis: allergic & irritant. In allergic contact dermatitis your skin has become sensitized to an allergen.This can be one or more of common substances such as plant sap, metals, cleaning solutions, cosmetic additives (perfumes, preservatives), textiles, dyes, industrial chemicals, and latex rubber additives. Patch testing can help identify the allergen to avoid.

Protect. Avoid things that make you break out, soaps & wetness. Wash your hands only when necessary. Wear gloves when needed. Wear clothes made of cotton. Bathe only with a small amount of mild unscented soap, such as dove. Keep the water temperature cool or warm, not hot. Use the medicine your doctor gave you. Use a plain moisturizer daily. Avoid scratching or rubbing the itchy area. Manage stress.
