In brief: Spinal,epidural, etc

There are several excellent alternatives to general anesthesia.
This can easily be done with spinal or epidural anesthesia. It can also be done with a combination of nerve blocks, and the big advantage to this is long-lasting pain relief after surgery. It can last for days in some cases. You can still be lightly sedated if you are worried about listening to what's happening.

In brief: Yes

A regional or epidural block can be done with or without general anesthesia, sometimes simple sedation only.
Discuss with your surgeon and anesthesiologist.
