In brief: Anti-fungal
Valley fever is caused by dimorphic fungi called coccidioidomycosis.
The spores from this fungus are usually inhaled and can cause a mild febrile illness or a life threating infection. The fungi is usually found in the southwest. The greatest number of cases have been found in the san joaquin valley (valley fever), california. Treat with anti-fungal therapy.

In brief: Fungal infection
Valley fever is from spores of coccidioides immitis entering the body through the lungs.
This is a fungal infection that is usually seen in deserts of the southwest us and central south america. Valley fever usually goes away without treatment, but you may need to be treated with an anti-fungal if you have a weakened immune system.
