The tick must be attached for at least 24 hours before there is any chance of transmitting infection.
If you know the tick was not there yesterday then don't worry. Otherwise watch for an expanding red ring, flu like illness particularly associated with a headache or swollen joints. These might be signs of a tick borne disease.
