Family Medicine
In brief: Stretching, NSAIDs
Gentle stretching of the foot can sometimes help ease the pain so that walking is not so painful.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication (naproxen or ibuprofen) can relieve the inflammation. Physical therapy may be needed. For resistant cases, an orthopedic surgeon may inject the area with steroids but there is a risk of weakening of the integrity of the tissue which can cause rupture.
