Yes, absorbable sutures (or dissolvable stitches) can be used to close the skin even if you are overweight.
However, it really depends on what the ob-gyn doctor sees during your surgery and his past experience. Generally speaking, the doctor will use what is the best for you at the time, but you can ask the doctor about it beforehand.
