In brief: Dermatologists help.
Without any more details other than a 'dark spot', the best advice would be to visit a dermatologist (skin doctor).
They specialize in all manner of skin problems and can offer you suggestions and treatment for your spot. If the edges are abnormal, if the borders are irregular, if the color is uneven or if the diameter is >6mm, it could be melanoma. In this case, see a doctor now. Melanoma kills.

In brief: R/o melanoma
First and foremost, skin cancer, especially melanoma, must be ruled out.
A common dark birthmark usually cannot be removed even surgically without it returning; many people find these distinctive and like them. Use a hydroquinone bleach only when you know exactly what the spot is.

In brief: DIfferent options
Seek consultation with a facial plastic surgeon or dermatologist.
Depending on how the spot appears there are different options for treatment. If it is sun damage a peel, laser treatment or sometimes topical treatments will be helpful. If it is concerning for a skin cancer, biopsy may be recommended.
