In brief: The most usual

Situation for patients that notice bumps on the back of the tongue is that they are seeing circumvallate papilla.
They are the largest of the normal bumps on the tongue at the very back. They can become irritated on occasion and you might notice them more easily. If the bumps have become more noticeable and don't resolve in a few days, consult w your dentist.

In brief: Could be normal

Without actually seeing your tongue, we cannot determine what you see and if it is abnormal.
It is best to see your dentist who can see if it is a problem or normal. See photo.
