Which is better for sinusitis? Flixotide or nasonex (mometasone)?

Steroid spray. Flixotide is fluticasone nasal spray commonly known as Flonase in the us. It and Nasonex (mometasone) are comparable in efficacy and safety and work about the same in the treatment of nasal congestion associated with sinus disease.

Can nasonex (mometasone) cause infection in the lungs? I suffer from chronic sinusitis and this seems to have occurred after using, stopped its use due to cough.

Unlikely. The absorption of Nasonex (mometasone) is low, and it going to the lung is also low. What can happen is if used more than necessary, it can cause fungal infection at the site of use and that can be inhaled or can spread. Read more...

I can't use decongestants so tried 2 nasal sprays for sinusitis & ETD. Flonase, Nasonex (mometasone) both resulted in horrid migraines. Is there any other option?

Bad luck. But hope still, saline nasal washes would do as good if used consistently, till you get evaluated preferably by an allergist, check aaaai.org or acaai.org for an allergist in your area, good luck. Read more...
