In brief: PCOS & Fertilty

Pcos is a disorder with infrequent ovulation as a hallmark.
Because ovulation occurs at times, some women will get pregnant without help. If you need help with medication then medication is very successful. The success rate is lower than you might think and at ivf we often find poor egg quality as the likely cause. If you are overweight, then get as close to nl as possible. See a fertility doc.

In brief: Can be

Pcos does not completely diminish fertility for most patients, though it does often make conception more difficult to achieve, probably though anovulatory cycles (with no egg released).
This is treatable and most women with pcos who wish to conceive can do so.

In brief: PCOS fertile?

Pcos usually causes infrequent ovulation.
I agree with others doc who replied that most pcos patients can become pregnant but many need help. If you ovulate then try for pregnancy and see a specialist if no baby after 12 well-timed moths of attempts. If not ovulating then no need to wait for help. Some pcos pts have increased risk of miscarriage so be prepared emotionally. Best wishes.
