In brief: Likely Reflux

This sounds like acid reflux.
I would start some over the counter medications like omperazole/zantac.. If it persists... I would see your local ent.

In brief: Golf Ball in Throat

The golf ball sensation generally represent muscle spasm associated with acid reflux.
Try a liquid antacid to coat your throat, and add otc Prilosec for ten days. Symptom not cleared? See an ear, nose and throat doctor. A special light be used to examine your throat, maybe a swallowing study, called a modified videofluroscopic barium swallow will be obtained.
