In brief: Clotting disorder

Fresh frozen plasma is given most often to give back or give additional clotting factors toa patient who needs them. It can reverse the effects of high Coumadin (warfarin) levels, those with overwhelming infecitons and major trauma who use up all of their clotting factors and are bleeding or at risk of bleeding.
It saves lives. Another reason to give blood if you can. We need lots of these products.

In brief: To fix clotting

Typically FFP is given to people who need replacement of blood clotting factors.
Usually this is because a patient is not making enough or for people who have been on blood thinners.
