Sometimes I get worried that I might be getting depression, what are some symptoms of depression?

In brief: Depression diagnosis

1) depressed mood, or 2) loss of interest in activities you used to enjoy.
In addition, 4 of the following symptoms: change in sleep, change in appetite/weight, feeling guilty/worthless, low energy, difficulty concentrating, moving more slowly than usual, or suicidal thoughts. Symptoms must last 2 weeks and occur daily. Prognosis for major depression is good. Treatment:psychotherapy and/or meds.

Milder depression like dysthymia and seasonal affective disorder are also very treatable as well. Early rising, exercise, light box - best if indicated with seasonal slump, activation, and psychotherapy would help. Ask your MD or consult with a psychiatrist who could better define the type of depression and treatments indicated.
