In brief: Several options
That's a loaded question, because its different in a younger woman vs.
An older woman. With either, an adequate amount of foreplay is helpful. Older, especially menopausal women often find help in taking hormone replacement. Younger women usually do not need that. A lubricant (water based) is helpful as well.

Unfortunately, most couples (namely men) don't provide enough though or action to adequate foreplay. Foreplay allows for relaxation and dilation of the vaginal vault. It also improves lubrication. Too often, men want to rush towards vaginal sex. Adequate foreplay can lead to satisfying and mind blowing sex. There is not time limit on "how much" or how long to have foreplay. You'll know when!
