Does whey protein have any side effects? Especially on liver and kidneys. And does it really help in getting muscle mass (with workout)? Thank you

Whey protein. Generally whey protein is a beneficial supplement that can improve muscle mass and decrease body fat. So it will improve lean muscle to fat ratio without workout. I am unaware of it independently increasing muscle mass without workout. Branched chain amino acids at night can help this, but not significant. Gotta do your work out!
