In brief: Possible arthritis

Seeing pulsation in your radial artery is usually normal and not worrisome.
Pain at the base of your thumb, aggravated by gripping/opening jars/twisting can come for arthritis of the trapeziometacarpal joint or scaphotrapeziotrapezoid joint. A splint can often help. If not x-rays and an exam can help sort it out.

In brief: May be truma

To have that problem most likely you some continous pressure on that area some , this lead to sprian of the joints and increase the circulation of that area.
If you have repative trauma to the area you may some arthitis of the joint at the base of the thumb, have checked by your doctor.
