In brief: It happens

Baby girls have girl parts and they are stimulated by mothers hormones during the pregnancy.
A percentage of newborn girls will have the equivalent of menses. This usually starts after day 2 and lasts a few days. It would never be expected after day 7-10. The volume is seldom more than would cover a cotton ball/day. It is a normal event.

In brief: Need more info

Some vaginal bleeding can happen in the first few days of life in newborn girls.
If it continues, then further evaluation with your pediatrician is warranted. Also, you want to determine if it is rectal blood or truly still vaginal. Either way, it should be evaluated if it is not resolved.
