What is a normal jaundice count for newborns?

Varies. Jaundice is a common feature in ~1/3 of newborns.Placental waste removal stops & baby must do it all. This includes extra recycling from fetal blood cells to air breather red cells that happens in the final weeks. The work by the babies liver can transiently back up. The accepted normal values vary whether baby is full term or premi, sick or well & the type of measuring units used for reporting.
