In brief: Dry skin after birth
After you deliver, there are numerous changes in your body.
Estrogen levels drop and sometimes these are resposible for dry skin and even some hair loss. The estrogen levels should return to normal in a couple of months and your skin should return to being more supple and soft. In the meantime make sure to keep hydrated and use a gentle moisturizer that is fragrance free.

In brief: Needs moisture & oil
The big change in hormonal levels after a woman delivers may have some effect on the types and amounts of moisture and oils in the skin.
Other than that, the reasons for dry skin after pregnancy are the same as the reasons for dry skin before pregnancy, such as: low humidity, frequent washing, soaps, eczema history, etc . . ..
