I briefly rinsed my essix retainer in hot water(not boiling though). The retainer feels normal but could I have damaged or accidentally melted it?

1 doctor agrees

In brief: Probably Not...

But it might be wise to have your provider check the fit.

In brief: Small chance

Plastic will deform if heated.
Please rinse in tepid or cool water, not hot. It should be OK, but best to have your Specialist Orthodontist or treating General Dentist check it for proper fit. If distorted can distort your teeth.
