I am not aware of specific carotid artery spasm but coronary artery spasm and peripheral arterial spasm is quite common. Treatments do include medications like calcium channel blockers or nitrates.

In brief: Workup needed first.

The condition of carotid artery spasms is very rare and needs imaging studies during the event to document it.
In general, however, it is likely to be something entirely different (would be more productive to describe symptoms, then presumed diagnosis). Anything to do with carotid arteries requires imaging study - that is what i would start with.
