In brief: Flu? "Stomach flu"?

Influenza is a respiratory illness and has nothing to do with the gastrointestinal tract.
Any illness can cause loose stools, and foul smell is normal when food rapidly passes through. But it's not the cause of flu. ("Stomach flu" is different, not properly called flu at all. Usually caused by the virus named norovirus.) Check with the child's doctor if the problem continues.
