Do health consequences result from excessive alcohol consumption on the liver? If so, what are they?

Several . . . Alcohol can cause several forms of liver injury. (1) alcoholic steatohepatitis - "fatty hepatitis" in which the liver cells are injury and balloon up with fat. (2) alcoholic hepatitis - a severe form of hepatitis (inflammation) triggered by alcohol which can be fatal in up to 50% of cases. (3) alcoholic cirrhosis - chronic ongoing injury which leads to cirrhosis and potentially liver cancer.
