In brief: Bleeding

Uncontrolled bleeding requires reevaluation and possibly additional treatment.
Post-surgical care is the responsibility of the General Dentist or Oral Surgeon who performed the surgery. Please call treating office for reevaluation or referral to specialist.

In brief: ER

If your husband has been bleeding significantly for a week, don't wait for an appointment, go to the ER immediately, and call for an ambulance if he feels weak.
Please try to choose a University Hospital or one with an Oral Surgeon on duty.

In brief: Tooth Extraction

will often result in some blood oozing for a few days after the procedure but most should stop in the first few hours after the extraction.
It sounds like he needs to call or return to the provider and have them evaluate the area and see what is happening. Also, remember that in the mouth a few drops of blood mixed with saliva looks like a lot more blood than there really is but have it checked!
