I've been told I likely have a minor lateral meniscus tear. With conservative treatment only, what could I generally expect as recovery time?
Estimated 3-6 months. Conservative/nonsurgical care for a lateral meniscus tear can include relative rest- esp. from high-impact/cutting activities such as running, heavy hiking, sports, exercise classes; physical therapy; regenerative injections such as platelet-rich plasma and bracing. Meniscal tears are slow to heal as blood supply is poor. If I can help, then join my care team at www.healthtap.com/dr-clarkeholmes.
6 weeks. A non displaced tear on the periphery of the meniscus will usually heal in 6 weeks.
