Typically hr goes up. If u r having chest pain - and hence are in a heightened state of sympathetic system overdrive so to speak - heart rate ought to go up. There are times when heart rate goes down - namely - an inferior wall heart attack and or right ventricle involvement as the artery feeding the electrical connections of heart are compromised. Cardiac evaluation. Chest pain during exercise can be a sign that your heart is not getting enough blood during exercise. You should see a physician to be evaluated for possibly coronary artery disease. Center chest pain. You are 23 years old and no other medical problems. Does the pain radiate to any other place like left arm, jaw or neck ? What kind of chest pain is it , burning stabbing or pressure type ? Does it hurt when you press your rmiddle of the chest ?
