True asthma is a genetically influenced defect at the cellular level.
It can be so mild some are never symptomatic or so bad they are on continuous meds for life. Much of wheezing in kids is not true asthma and 70%+ grow out of it.As an adult,the best you can do is respect the condition and work with your doc to minimize events.If you ignore it you could have significant problems.

Avoid all milk products since the milk protein causes respiratory tract inflammation.
Also avoid grains, lentils. Consume veggies, flesh foods, olive oil. Getting 30 -45 min of sunshine at noon daily or taking vitamin D3 10,000 IU/day and taking a good probiotic (not yogurt) help reduce inflammation Yoga breathing exercises 10-30 min/day help too. This may help avoid the need for meds
