Will Levaquin 500 mg still be effective to treat acute maxillary sinus infection even though I crush and pour it into my feeding tube?
I'm taking 500 mg of Levaquin once a day for 10 days to treat acute maxillary sinus infection. Is this a strong dosage and will it be effective?
Probably OK, but... See my reply to your other infection. If this was prescribed by your doctor, take it as directed. But don't expect miracles: as I said before, most sinusitis doesn't need antibiotics and often they don't help very much. A nasal decongestant probably is equally or more important. Good luck. Is Levaquin 500 mg taken once a day for 10 days enough to treat my acute maxillary sinus infection? How many days will it take for me to feel better?
Sinus infection. Levaquin is a very potent antibiotic and should be able to treat a BACTERIAL sinusitis. However, most sinus infections are viral and will get better on their own. If you have a bacterial one it should work with a 10 day course. Have you been using a decongestant?? I might suggest pseudoephedrine 30 or 60 mg up to 4 times a day. Read more...
