Refluxing veins. Varicose veins are due to leaking valves(called reflux) most commonly in the saphenous system. To treat these you must first undergo a venous reflux ultrasound to make the diagnosis and determine the proper treatment. Medical management would be the use of support hose but this is only masking the problem. Laser closure of the leaking valves and micro incisions to remove the vv's is the ideal.

For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. You state he . Complains about his knees and then remark he has a bulging vein behind his knee. I would tend to think the vein is not the issue as you reveal if I understood he only has the vein on one limb. I would make sure he ices the knees. Knee pain. Also have slightly bulging veins in knee and calf near knee. Veins twitch some times. I'm 70 lbs overweight. Shud I be worried?
Varicose veins. Twitching or not, if there is aching and pain over the veins and in the leg along with ankle or leg swelling, a Duplex vein scan should be done to see if there is associated venous insufficiency.
