I was diagnosed with atherosclerosis also with benign heart palpitations after wearing a heart monitor for 24 hours, my question is why when I bend over picking something up out of the floor or tying my shoes do I then have flip-flops in my chest?

In brief: When you bend over

or increase the pressure inside your chest, you impede the return of blood to your heart and reduce the volume in the pump this can trigger extra heart beats or just make you more aware of heart beats when it refills with reduction in the pressure.
This is physiological and unlikely to represent anything to be concerned about.
