Anxiety without med. Talking therapy ranks really high. Cognitive Behavioral therapy or psychotherapy can be effective. Aim for daily exercise, 8 hours of sleep per night & good nutrition w 5 servings of veggies & 4 of fruit per day. Try tai chi, yoga, Qi Gong, progressive muscle relaxation, deep breathing exercises & meditation. Don't isolate - spend time w friends & stay active.
Relaxation training. There are several methods of treating anxiety without drugs. The most prominent is relaxation training wherein you take slow deep inhalations followed by slow exhalations. During the exhalation you say the word 'relax' and imagine a restful scene in you mind. You practice this at least 10-15 times per day and eventually when anxious, you can say the word 'relax' and relieve the anxiety.
See below. Talk to your physician to see if there is a physical basis for anxiety, work on finding out what makes you anxious. Try to establish daily routine to bring some predictability in your day; practice deep breathing, relaxation/ guided imagery (you can find scripts on the web); you can work with a therapist to help you guide through the process. Find a psychologist. Who treats anxiety. The most effective treatment for anxiety is relaxation training coupled with cognitive therapy that helps you modify the thoughts, perceptions and beliefs that trigger the anxiety.
