Spilled paint thinner and I woke up the next morning with a stuffy nose and sore throat, we can still smell it, is this going to harm us?

Usually. a spill of volatile liquids such as Pain Thinner (Probably Turpentine) usually results in only temporary irritation! In an open room and when promptly cleaned there will be no future effects! (BTW "smelling it" afterward is common!! . Just be sure it's all cleaned up and VENTILATE the area if possible) Hope this is helpful Dr Z.

Just getting over walking pneumonia but today I woke up with a bad sore throat its killing me a stuffy nose hurts to swallow could I b get sick again?

Yes, you could. If you are finished with your antibiotics for your pneumonia, you could certainly have a new bacterial infection. Your symptoms are also consistent with a viral illness, which would not have been covered by the antibiotic taken for the pneumonia. I would recommend that you see your doctor tomorrow to help you figure this out and get you feeling better. Read more...
Possibly. You didn't mention whether you have fever or chills along with this. However your clinical history & medications warrants you calling your doctor first and letting her or him know that you're feeling sick with a sore throat. They can instruct you what to do. In the meantime, use warm, saline gargles, hydrate and rest. That is comforting and easy to do from home. Keep your neck warm and covered. Read more...

My son had heart surgery a month ago today he. Woke up with stuffy. Nose sore throat and ear ach?

The odds are ... That he has an upper respiratory infection +/- otitis media (ear infection). He should see his primary care physician. It probably has nothing to do with his heart surgery 1 month ago, but it would be a good idea for his doc to check him. Read more...
