I have a dry cough, with no symptoms of a cold, but I fell like I have a low grade fever, and have some dizziness, plus my lungs and throat is sore f?

Maybe an URI. (Upper respiratory infection). Hydrate well, rest. Consider warm soups to help with congestion. Consider gargling with warm salt water for sore throat or use of netti pot for nasal congestion. If you develop difficulty breathing please seek medical attention.

How long should I wait to go to the doctor with a persistent dry cough, sore throat, and low grade fever? It's been about a week.

No more. time to be seen by your doctor, it could have started as a viral upper respiratory tract infection, but didn't resolve on its own and bacteria might have kicked in, hence you may need prescription medications, meanwhile use salt water gargles and pain killers , rest and fluids till seen, good luck . It depends... I think this depends on what type of doctor. From your symptoms the odds are very high that this is a viral infection. Research studies show that antibiotics are likely to do more harm than good. However, herbs, homeopathic medicines and acupuncture may help so if your Dr. offers these it would help to go. I advise trying Umcka, available at health food stores. See http://tinyurl.com/ztoepsy. Read more...

4 yo son recently diagnosis with strep (+ rapid) fever and sore throat are getting better after 24 hrs of abx. No cold symptoms but now has dry cough; related?

Maybe, maybe not. Typically strep throat alone rarely produces cough--there is almost always something else involved when a cough joins an infected throat such an a sinus infection or 2nd illness (not previously appreciated until the strep begins to improve) such as mycoplasma. The antibiotic for strep will not treat mycoplasma infection; therefore, the best advice is to call your md noting this change in symptoms. Read more...

My 4 yr old has low grade fever. Complaining of a pain on the right side of chest. Has an irritation in the throat. Relieves by Quick dry cough. Reason?

Likely a virus. It's probably a virus, although pneumonia/bronchitis or other bacterial infection (sinus infection, strep throat) is not out of the question. Other possibilities include an inflamed rib muscle or a muscle pull from coughing. I'd definitely see your doctor about it. Read more...
