In brief: Absolutely not!!!

Especially less than a year old.
Some honey carries the spores and can cause infant botulism.

In brief: No honey if <1yo

Absolutely do not use honey in babies less than 1 yr of age.
Honey contains botulinum spores. Infants do not have the ability to deactivate the spores and can develop botulism- an often fatal form of neurological poisoning. Botox- is a medical form of the toxin that is used in neurological disorders. No infant needs added sweetners in breast milk, formula or foods!

In brief: Cultural practice

I am aware that some cultures believe that bringing honey to a baby brings good luck.
It is a belief based on a long tradition but needs to be be looked at for the risks involved. Infants may hatch botulism spores from the honey in their gut, and that can release enough toxin to make baby stop breathing. Even the tiniest amount can cause the problem.
