In brief: HIDA scan

Gallbladder probably needs to be removed, you can go ahead with surgery with a pretty good chance it will cure the problem, or a HIDA scan (pronounced hide-a) can be done to confirm the diagnosis.
As part of this study the radiologist will inject a drug (CCK) which usually will cause an attack if the gallbladder is the problem.
