Depression has a cure? Natural remedy?

Sometimes/many. Depression can be treated and sometimes cured but sometimes it tends to recur; it depends. There can be physical causes like hypothyroidism, vitamin deficiencies, gluten sensitivity etc. Natural treatments include tryptophan, SAMe, St. John's Wort, Turmeric, exercise and meditation and often help as well or more than drugs. Classical homeopathy can be very effective. Counseling can help too.

No it isnt. Regular antidepressants are much more effective and better regulated than the "natural "product". For example you have to take a max dose of st johns wort (the active ingredient in amoryn) to equal 75mg of tofranil--usual dose 100-300 mg. Using this type of preparation for a pt with clinical depression is, in my opinion, like hunting elephants with a bb gun. Read more...
Probably not. It's interesting -- in germany, many physicians recommend st. John's wort as the first treatment for depression. This product "amoryn" does not contain st. John's wort, but only a presumed "active ingredient" of it (hyperforin) as well as the adaptogen rhodiola rosea and 5 htp. The web site quotes studies about st. John's wort, not this particular product. I'd try the actual plant before amoryn. Read more...
