Did cross country today and pushed myself to run as much as I could. I'm unfit and my chest hurt a little and my heart rate reached 176bpm is this bad?

In brief: Not necessarily.

The estimated maximum heart rate (eMHR) is 220-age, which is 204 bpm for you.
You got up to about 85% of your eMHR. The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends activity from 50%-85% of the MHR for at least 15 min. So, you got a good workout! If you didn't pass out & if the chest pain subsided, then there's no lasting problem. Keep exercising regularly, you'll get better (fitter) with practice.
